So you want an effective web site?
You’re not alone, of course. If you run a business of whatever size, an effective web site, is essential in today’s world. That’s the easy part. Building a web site, is a different matter. The terminology is confusing, the software not easy to use and the results can often be disappointing.

Pete Hawkins, who runs Web-Works.Biz, has been self-employed for over 15 years and runs two successful small businesses. He’s had his own web sites for years and has built up a detailed knowledge of what makes a good web site and what doesn’t.

Take Control
A simple web site is great but not having easy control of it is not. Pete can also host your web site on his servers, which have over 99% uptime. He’ll provide you with the codes to access your site and be on hand to update or help you to update your site when it needs it.
So what next?
Your best first step is to contact Pete to discuss your needs. He can advise you on the best route to take. You might have great idea for a site already, (paper napkins are good for this) or like the look of a couple of other sites that you’d like to incorporate into yours. If so then that’s a great place to start.
You may be absolutely clueless but know you need a web site. Pete has put together a few standard web site templates which can be adapted to suit your needs. The steps are below and the links to these are to the right.
1. Choose one of the web site templates or give me an idea of sites you like and why
2. Decide on a colour scheme
3. Write the words you’d like to appear on the site (Pete can help)
4. Choose some photographs to illustrate your property
And that’s it. Pete will do the rest. He’ll input your information and once you’re happy with the way it works, he can help you publish it on the internet. Not got a web site name (like www.yourbusinesssname.co.uk)? No worries, Pete can help with that too.
